Synopsis: A coming-of-age short about two gothic best friends, Francis and Lucia, and their journey to visit Lucia’s mother in the psych ward.

Characters:

Francis (Female, 16-19) Francis is alive. She’s expressive, direct, a little brash, but her desire to help her best friend Lucia is sincere. The thing is- she’s just as scared as Lucia, if not more. Francis just wants to make sure Lucia makes it to her mom and feels loved, like a best friend should.
Lucia (Female, 16-19) Lucia embodies that age when everything feels embarrassing. The more timid of the two, Lucia is an over-thinker. Practical, reserved, and sufficiently awkward, Lucia is just a little more hesitant when it comes to life, but she isn’t a coward. Lucia is a lot tougher than she looks.
Topher Bradley (Male, 16-19) Topher has liked Francis since 5th grade. She was one of the only girls that would play basketball during recess (Lucia did too, but he doesn’t remember that). Topher doesn’t fully understand why he likes Francis, and largely tried to ignore the attraction for most of middle school and early high school. However, he’s getting to the point where Francis just seems a little more interesting than basketball. Also, screw his friends- it’s not like any of them have ever had a girlfriend.
