Black/African descent, woman, looks 25-35, Afro textured hair, non equity actor (no exceptions), no acting experience needed, good storyteller, lives in NYC or able to commute.

Midtown International Theatre Festival 2017, Short Play Lab of Hair Ye, Hair Ye…

SYNOPSIS: a charismatic woman, comedically reflects upon the (mis)perceptions of her afro-textured hair. The versatility of her hairstyles parallel her diverse, and sometimes awkward, encounters. Her narration begins with childhood memories and progresses into adulthood. Whether her experiences occur on the playground or in the workplace, bewilderment ensues.

CHARACTER BIO:

GiGi, 30, is a witty, humorous, sarcastic, free spirited, expressive, world traveling elementary school teacher.

COMPENSATION: $55, cash, for public transportation costs

PRODUCTION DATES: July 15-16, 2017, Two performances, Program A or B (Program A Saturday at 7pm & Sunday at 4pm, Program B Saturday at 9pm & Sunday at 2pm)

REHEARSAL DATES/LOCATION -May 1, 2017 – July 15, 2017, Eight 1 hour rehearsals in Brooklyn and/or Manhattan, must have script memorized by first rehearsal
