“Black” – Student Short Film
“Black” is about a young African-American male who reflects on his father’s teachings about what it means to be a respectable man. Jamal encounters a few situations where he personally witnesses being stereotyped based on his and others ethnic background.
Lead Actors, Supporting Actors, and Extras needed.
Must be flexible to be available on set Friday, March 31st, Saturday, April 1st, Friday, April 7th, and Saturday, April 8th.
Jamal: Lead Role. [African-American male ranging from Ages 18-24]. A strong independent young man who respects his father’s teachings. Focused, alert, humble, and eager to be a good person.
Professor Lane: [African-American male ranging from Ages 29-38]. A teacher who is known to be tough. He enjoys teaching and developing strong students that will be prepared for the work-force.
John: [Caucasian male ranging from Ages 23-29]. Has a small role where he has a limited and engrained viewpoint about African-American males.
Sarah: [Caucasian female ranging from Ages 18-26]. She has a small role. She has a very narrow minded perception of African-American males. After an pleasant encounter with Jamal, she begins to develop a different mindset concerning African-American men.
Library scene: need about 6 extras ranging from [Ages 18-30]. All ethnic backgrounds welcomed.
Classroom scene: need about 15 extras ranging from [Ages 18-28]. All ethnic backgrounds welcomed.
Train scene: need about 15 extras ranging from [Ages 18-38]. All ethnic backgrounds welcomed.
