“Stigma” – A Staged Reading

Cast of Characters
WALLY Lola’s father. A 40 year old larger-than-life, upbeat but unkempt sales executive who struggles, unknowingly at first, with mania and delusions of grandeur.
KEVIN Wally’s younger brother. Thin, he looks nothing like Wally. Possibly adopted. Mid-Late 30s. He is very mild-mannered.
LOLA A precocious 15 year-old, she attempts to manage her own bipolar, her father’s mania and her mother’s indifference and frustrations, all while holding the family together.
GINA Lola’s mother and Wally’s wife. Late 30s. A strong-willed first-generation American, she has followed Wally, sacrificing her own dreams and aspirations. But her patience for his mania, and her daughter’s depression, is expiring.
DR. BAGHAT Dr. Baghat is both psychiatrist and counselor. Aged 40+. He pushes, pokes, prods and encourages (sometimes humorously) Wally to own up to his shortcomings, address them, and make necessary changes in his life.
