FIRST STAGE Non-Equity General auditions for the 2018-2019 Season

All auditions will take place at the Milwaukee Youth Arts Center, 325 W. Walnut Street, Milwaukee, WI 53212. You are asked to arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your scheduled time and check in with our audition monitor. There is parking in a lot off of MLK Drive (just south of Walnut). There is a commons for you to wait in and restroom facilities should you need them.

If you auditioned for us at the Milwaukee Generals at the Rep in January of 2018, you need not audition.

You will have 6 minutes total for your audition. You are asked to perform either: 2 songs and a monologue, or 2 monologues and song, whichever you prefer. 32 bars is fine. An accompanist will be provided. Please bring at least two (2) copies of your headshot and resume. You will be auditioning for Jeff Frank, Artistic Director; John Maclay, Associate Artistic Director and Director of the Young Company; Jeff Schaetzke, Company Manager and Director/Music Director in the upcoming season; as well as some other Artistic and Academy staff. Directors for the upcoming season will be invited.

Our 2018-2019 Season will be announced soon. We will not be having any show-specific auditions on this day, but will contact actors should we need you for call backs for any specific show. We respectfully ask that if you are not available during the season (September – May) that you do not come to this call (i.e. you will be in college). If you auditioned for us at the Milwaukee Generals at the Rep in January, you need not audition.

First Stage is one of the nation’s largest professional theatre for young audiences. We are an Equity theatre that also hires non-equity actors, Teaching Artists, Artistic Interns, and understudies for most shows. Contracts run in length from six to nine weeks. We do age-appropriate casting for are young roles, and cast anywhere from five to twenty-five young performers per show. We also are interested in actors who have experience or potential as teaching artists either in our Education department or our nationally acclaimed Theatre Academy.

Please email Jeff Schaetzke, Company Manager for an appointment. If leaving a message or email, please give a range of times that you can audition. We will be scheduling 6-minute audition slots. When possible, please submit your headshot and resume electronically ahead of time. More information is at www.firststage.org
