Open Auditions in Boston for Student Film “Hound Footage”

Hound Footage

Location: Boston, MA

Type: Student Films

Hello all! Hound Footage is holding our casting call in just a few weeks!

Hound Footage is cross between a horror film and a meme, showing life from a dog’s perspective. This is a non-union BFA film project at Emerson College and will be showcased as the culmination of education for two students.

We are seeking a six-person cast, including two people playing a new couple, two people playing murderers, and two people to act as cops. The film has minimal dialogue, and we are primarily interested in people who consider themselves to be good movers. We are hoping for the couple to be able to appear as though they are between 25 and 35. It would also be ideal if the two murderers were 6’ or taller. Otherwise, we are open to all genders, ethnicities, and ages. No specific combat training and/or weapons training needed; no guns. No specific audition attire required. Those interested in the roles of the couple should prepare a monologue from a film that showcases fear, as well as be ready to scream in fear at the idea of being murdered. Must be visceral. For the roles of the murderers, please prepare a short monologue from a film that displays murderous or crazy tendencies, as well as preparing to interact with a camera as a dog. They should also be ready to display themselves as a murderer in their stance, walk, eyes, and voice. Think of slasher films, such as Scream, where the killer takes their time to really scare the victim.

Auditions will be held the weekend of April 20-22 with callbacks the next weekend, April 27-29, both in downtown Boston. We will be filming the auditions. Scripts will not be available during auditions, but script treatments will be. The deadline to sign up is midnight on April 20. Video auditions will be accepted as well. For more information and to sign up for Hound Footage auditions, please email your résumé and headshot to We would also like those auditioning to bring a copy of their résumé and headshot to their audition.

Rehearsals will mostly be in Boston – with one weekend of rehearsals on site in Connecticut – and filming will take place in Vernon, CT over July 13-15 and July 20-22. Transportation will be provided from Boston to Vernon and back, as well as overnight accommodations. Some meals and snacks will also be provided. There is not any compensation for being involved with this production. Hound Footage will be shown at Emerson College, at various festivals, and on Vimeo. Actors will be able to use parts of the film for reels after the film has been released and has finished being submitted for festivals.
