The Tuna Goddess
Location: Brewster, MA
THE TUNA GODDESS, a dramatic comedy new play being produced by Cape Rep Theater on Cape Cod for their 2018 June/July slot.
ALEX (lead) female mid-to-late 30s — feisty, driven, stubborn and funny. Alex returns to the Cape when her estranged father passes away and is forced to take over his tuna boat.
PETE (lead) male mid-to-late 30s — Alex’s childhood friend, who also happens to co-own her father’s fishing boat. He can’t stand having to fish with Alex…probably because he’s carried a torch for her his whole life. A quiet Blue-collar, underdog type who finally gets the girl.
DEB (supporting) female mid 50s to mid 60s. Deb runs the dock and has spent her life around fishermen. She’s tough and full of humor, but has a warm maternal instinct toward Alex.
NORMAN (supporting) male mid 50s to mid 60s. Alex’s father–seen in flashback. Like most fisherman, he is a stoic man. But still waters run deep. Actor must project warmth and emotion in a minimalist way.
RICHARD (supporting) male mid-to-late 30s. Smarmy, good-looking leading man type who is not accustomed to the word NO. He’s the ex-boyfriend trying to win Alex back.
SULLY (supporting) male mid-to-late 30s. Fisherman. Pete’s best friend and biggest competition. Runs his mouth way too much, but a good guy underneath all the bluster.
SHAWN (supporting) male early-to-late 20s. Sully’s new first mate. Completely green and a very naive. He means well.
Rehearsals will begin in late May, with a run from June 27th to July 21st. Union and Non-Union will both be considered.
