DragonLand is a low budget Web series being designed for youtube and other similar platforms. Inspired by the society’s love of watching content on smartphones – this series sets to bring a fantasy style story that matches this landscape.
With an aesthetic inspired by 90’s Anime and fantasy story telling, DragonLand tells a simple story of young man dealing with small magical problems that sneak into the ordinary world. Most of the story takes place in and around his neighborhood; just with an eye on the more interesting locations.
This is a story that we love to see. And ordinary guy thrown into a strange world where the only thing he can depend on is his wits, his skill, and his magic.
ROLES:
LEAD : JULIAN, MALE, Age 20-31
The Web Series follows Julian as he is drawn into the more fantastical world that is happening just out of the corner of his eye. Julian is the typical male who spends too much time indoors, stuck in his own head. Must have the range of both a loner and and leader.
SIDE CHARACTER: SHAU, FEMALE, Age 18-29
SHAU is the quick to smile wiser friend of JULIAN. Where JULIAN is scattered but skeptical, she is patient and daring. Actress must give the role a fun attitude.
ANTAGONIST: RED, MALE, AGE 18-31
RED is one of 7 villains with the Aido Wedo gang. Their trademark make is to dress in solid colors of the rainbow, typically wearing a mask of their color. They have enhanced fighting abilities, but can only appear one at a time. The actor who plays this roll will play as more than one of the villains since they are covered. But they will be unmasked at critical scenes. Must be athletic and willing to shoot fight scenes.
Smaller Ancillary rolls will be present, but not needed for these auditions.
Please note that this is a small budget production so compensation will be modest, but each of the principal actors will be compensated $50.00 for their time, plus credits.
Actors must be available to audition starting 8/29 – 9/5. Shooting will start the following week of 9/7.
Shooting will take place around West Plano, Addison, and Carollton Texas. Please anticipate shooting for all 3 episodes on multiple days.A copy of the script that includes your character will be sent when you reach out.
This should be a fun role for those looking to start their film reel. Film students or just people looking to get into something fun should reach out. Looking forward to trying something new and different with you all.
