Dance Audition for Newly-Forming New Jersey Theatre Dance Company

The newly-forming New Jersey Theatre Dance Company (NJTDC) consists of dancers with a variety of dance backgrounds. The artistic repertoire is composed of theatrical dance, primarily to songs from Broadway musicals, though not exclusively. The choreography is buoyant, cheerful, and frolicsome, incorporating classical jazz dance styles and the styles of the more decadent realms of cabaret and burlesque. Performances are ebullient and electrifying.
We are seeking older Male and Female dancers (Company members and Apprentices), currently active or not, who have had 1 year or more of Jazz Dance training and are willing and able to grow with this new Company. Auditions will be held in New Jersey at the end of February. Exact date, time, and location will be furnished to dancers who meet the requirements.
Company Information
*Paid performances for both Company members and Apprentices.
*Rehearsals are presently unpaid, with a possibility of paid rehearsals in the future.
*Rehearsals will be held in Northern New Jersey.
*Performances will take place in the New Jersey/New York areas.
*Apprentices are understudies of Company members.
Audition Details
The audition will consist of a theatre dance combination. Dancers must come prepared to dance. Female dancers must wear character shoes. Male dances must wear jazz shoes. In addition to dance talent, we are also looking for charisma, stage presence, and energy.
Audition Requirements
*Dancers must be adults and have 1 year or more of Jazz Dance training
*Must attend all rehearsals & performances
*Must be dedicated & dependable
