Platinum Wigs; The side-splitting, laugh out loud, comedy play about Violet Knox; a woman in her Golden years living with her saucy 82 year old mother and Grace, the wise-cracking, Jamaican home health aide in Coney Island, Brooklyn. The annual Summer Mermaid Day Parade appears to be going as usual until Percy, Violets husband, of 32 years suddenly decides he has to make an announcement that will change everyone’s life.
CASTING CALL
Violet: 50-65 African American, Comedic actress. Looks beautiful for her age. Very stylish and cosmopolitan.
Marva: 65-75 African American Comedic Actress. Very sharp and quick witted. Hates getting old. Always has an insult in her purse for everyone.
Grace: 40-55 Black Actress who can do a realistic Caribbean accent. Must have great comedic timing and physical comedy abilities.
Olive: 50-65
Southernbell/ African American Actress quirky but loveable. Always laughing. Everyone thinks she’s dumb but actually very aware.
Percy: 50-70
Handsome/ Dapper African American Actor Very stylish and charming. Must not be afraid to kiss a man and a woman on stage.
Marvin: 25-45 African American Male fashion model Handsome and charming. Muscular upper body. Not afraid to be shirtless and kiss a man or woman on stage.
