We are casting for a non-union micro-budget comedy TV series (four episodes). It’s filming in various Orillia locations between Sept 27th and Oct 8th – dates may be subject to change. Pay rate – $150 per day. We are looking for BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and people with disabilities to apply. Actors local to the Orillia, Ontario area are heavily encouraged to apply – but accommodation will be provided if needed. The show is called Sunshine City, and is a scripted comedy series that mashes the travelogue show genre with a behind the scenes mystery – the characters are filming a travel show about Orillia (that we often see play out on screen) while off-camera a mystery surrounding the host and her identity plays out.
AXEL (30, male) is a kind-hearted and loyal documentary producer that lives a sheltered life in a small town.
JOJO (35-65, female) is an assertive and no-nonsense producer with a short temper.
DETECTIVE CORNELIUS BATES (any age, written as male but can be gender-swapped) is an over-eager and under-qualified private investigator.
The series is for a national broadcaster and will be aired later this year.
