Casting Kids in Atlanta for New TV Show “The Wonder Years”

The old show the Wonder Years is getting a reboot and will premiere this fall on ABC.

The show is currently filming in the Atlanta area and there is a casting call out for kids who are available to work as paid extras and also live in the Atlanta area. Specifically, Central is casting for kids in the 9 to 15 age group.

According to ABC, the reboot is set in Alabama.  The following description of the “Wonder Years” reboot is from an ABC press release.

“Inspired by the beloved award-winning series of the same name, ‘The Wonder Years’ is a coming-of-age story set in the late 1960s that takes a nostalgic look at a Black middle-class family in Montgomery, Alabama, through the point of view of imaginative 12-year-old Dean. With the wisdom of his adult years, Dean’s hopeful and humorous recollections show how his family found their ‘wonder years’ in a turbulent time.”

Don Cheadle, or actually, his voice plays the narrator who goes back through his childhood as an adult as re relives all his best memories of growing up. According to reports, the cast includes Dule? Hill (of “West Wing” fame) as Dean’s father, Bill Williams; Laura Kariuki (of the “Black Lightning” TV series) as his sister, Kim Williams; and Saycon Sengbloh (a Broadway actress who had a recurring role on “Scandal’) as Dean’s mother, Lillian Williams.

The show premieres this fall and ABC has released a trailer for the upcoming “Wonder Years” TV show.
