Synopsis-
Sweet and Sour is a day in the life, coming of age story about a shift in a mother and daughter relationship when the mother decides to go to India leaving her 17-year-old daughter behind. Featuring only a single setting, they work together to bake a cake while struggling to navigate their new circumstances and the impact that it has on their relationship.
LEAD ROLES-
1) Rekha – Female – (45-55)
Rekha, a housewife, and a mom has decided to go out in the world after exiting a marriage of 25 years, taking time to focus on herself to experience the life that she has missed out on. She gets an opportunity for a job in India but to pursue that she has to leave her 17-year-old daughter behind in the USA.
Ethnicity – South Asian
2) Sam (Samruddhi) – (17-18)
Sam is a naive, immature 17-year-old teenager who comes from a broken family. She values family, is close to her mom (Rekha), and values the time she spends with her. However, when her mom, a housewife, decides to go to India to pursue a career and live her own life, she struggles to accept the new reality of her mother not being there for her like she is used to. She has to learn independence while also supporting her mother on her new life journey.
