Lanette, A New Fairy Tale – The Musical
Lanette is a new original musical by Amanda Beveridge, and follows a story of danger, magic, and friendship.
Travel down the faerie path and into a forest filled with dancing, delight, but also deadly foes. This musical is the perfect blend of classic fairy tale and modern folk songs. Our story begins with a young girl on a stroll, as many stories start, but the tale of Lanette truly starts to unfurl when our title character meets another, just off the road, Siofra. Songs, and strangers, and sinister plots lead Lanette away from her road home, and towards a faerie ring, in the middle of the woods. There she learns the ways of the fae, the importance of words, and how deadly a dance can be. If she’s to ever escape she has to resist the temptation to join in the merriment around her. Some faeries have Lanette’s best interests at heart, others are just there for the fun. Some, though, would love to see her fail and be trapped in the faerie ring forever; and they’ll do whatever they can to keep her.
This story has fantasy, friendship, fiendish foes, and of course plenty of magic. Lanette pulls heavily from classic faerie lore, with twists to suit our tale.
Students registered for this musical program will be studying acting techniques, dance, hand held instrumentation and more throughout the summer, culminating in a live outdoor performance at the end of August.
Rehearsals will be held Tuesdays and Fridays, 4:30-6:00pm, but not all rehearsals will be mandatory for every cast member. These evenings during the week create a great opportunity for weekend summer getaways!
Performances will be held at the end of August (Date TBD), tentatively at Veasey Memorial Park, and will be performed in a theatre in the round format, to ensure quality viewing and sound for audience members.
Please Note, The production of a live performance is contingent upon current CDC, and state guidelines regarding the Covid-19 pandemic, but we are more than hopeful to have our second outdoor summer show, and any regulations will be clearly explained prior to performance.
Rehearsals – Tuesdays and Fridays 4:30-6:00 p.m.
Program Length – Approx. 8 Weeks. Audition/Information meeting 6/22 at 4:30, first rehearsal Friday 6/25 at 4:30. There will be no rehearsal the week of July 4th.
Program Cost – $275
Program cost includes costume, script, all props and set materials as well as marketing materials, one complimentary ticket to the performance, venue rentals, rehearsal space and more.
