Casting in NYC for HBO’s “Girls on the Bus”
Carla Gugino will be starring in a new HBO political drama titled “Girls on the Bus.” Carla Gugino will be starring in the upcoming HBOMax show alongside fellow cast members Melissa Benoist, Natasha Behnam and Christina Elmore. “The Girls On The Bus” comes from Warner Bros. TV and is produced with Berlanti Productions.
The show is now filming in the New York City area and the extras casting directors for the show at Central, are tasked with filling background roles on the production.
The political drama focuses on a character named Sadie McCarthy, played by Benoist. The writers and executive producers on “Girls on the Bus” are cretited as being Amy Chozick and Julie Plec. The show is reported to be inspired by a chapter of Amy Chozick’s book titled Chasing Hillary.
According to Deadline, Sadie is a journalist who romanticizes Tim Crouse’s Boys on the Bus book and who scrapped her whole life for her own shot at covering a presidential campaign for the paper of record. Sadie hits the trail and eventually bonds with three female competitors, Grace (Gugino), Lola (Behnam) and Kimberlyn (Elmore). Despite their differences, the women become a found family with a front-row seat to the greatest soap opera in town: the battle for the White House.
The IMDB description of this show is as follows: Four female journalists who follow the every move of a parade of flawed presidential candidates, finding friendship, love, and a scandal that could take down not just the presidency but our entire democracy along the way.
