Seasonal job for actors and even non-actors in Carson City. Open auditions coming up for “The Polar Express.”
The Polar Express Train Ride is a magical and enchanting holiday experience that has captured the hearts of families around the world.
Based on the beloved children’s book by Chris Van Allsburg and popularized by the 2004 animated film, this immersive event offers a unique opportunity to relive the timeless tale of a young boy’s journey to the North Pole on Christmas Eve. Passengers are transported into the story as they board a real-life steam train beautifully decorated for the season. They are greeted by a cast of characters, including a charismatic conductor and a mysterious hobo, who reenact scenes from the book and film, creating an atmosphere filled with wonder and holiday spirit.
The journey culminates with a visit to the North Pole, where Santa Claus himself makes a grand appearance, and children receive their very own sleigh bells as a symbol of belief in the magic of Christmas. The Polar Express Train Ride has become a cherished holiday tradition, allowing families to step into the pages of a cherished story and create lasting memories that embody the true spirit of the season.
The V&T Railway Commission in partnership with the historic Virginia-Truckee Railroad and Rail Events, Inc. (Warner Brothers Inc. Consumer Products) – holding auditions for the The Polar Express Train Ride, bringing this beloved and inspirational story to life aboard the historic V&T Railroad for the 2023 season.
According to the local Carson now site – Organizers are looking for upbeat, energetic actors, actresses, dancers, and singers to fill the following roles of: Stewards, Elves, Chefs, Waiters, Conductors, Hobos–Age 21+, the Hero Boy-Boys aged 8 to 12, Hero Girl (Holly)-Girls aged 8-12, and the big man himself Santa Claus–Age 50+.
For Santa Claus distinctive character attributes such as a real-bearded are preferred. Santa’s will also be required to join Nationwide Santa’s so they can obtain a background check. Please contact Production Director, Carla Wilson, for a list of the additional characteristics.
For those eager to become a part of this lively and enchanting performance, there will be three opportunities to audition for a role. All auditions will take place in Carson City at the V&T Eastgate Railroad Depot, situated at 4650 Eastgate Siding Road.

Audition dates:
Friday, Sept. 8 and Saturday, Sept. 9 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 10, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Performers only need to attend one date of auditions but must stay for the entire 2-hour period on the date they attend. If you are under the age of 18, you must have a parent/guardian attend the entire audition time with you.
