Auditions in Maine for “Fiddler on The Roof”

Fiddler on the Roof is the award-winning musical tale of Tevye the Dairyman and his family’s struggles in a changing Russia. One of the iconic hits of Broadway history, it was also made into an Oscar-winning movie.

Auditions for “Fiddler on the Roof,” under the direction of Leslie Michaud, are scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 11 at 6 p.m. and Saturday, Jan. 13 at 10 a.m. at The Grand located at 165 Main St. at the historic Grand Theater in Ellsworth, Maine. The Grand is an iconic Art Deco theater in Maine.

Performance dates are April 5-7, 12-14, and 19-21.

Roles:

Tevye – A likable, hard-working, pious dairyman and proud patriarch. Father of five daughters raised according to the old scriptures.

What to Prepare:

Prospective actors and singers are advised to prepare 16-32 bars of a classic musical theater song and bring sheet music for the accompanist, clearly marking the part being sung. Audition participants may be requested to sing or read from the script and learn a brief dance piece. Acapella singing and karaoke tracks are discouraged, and individuals should be ready to disclose any rehearsal or performance date conflicts. Those with significant conflicts with numerous rehearsal dates or any performance dates will not be cast.

Auditions for “Fiddler on the Roof,” under the direction of Leslie Michaud, are scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 11 at 6 p.m. and Saturday, Jan. 13 at 10 a.m. at The Grand located at 165 Main St. Musical direction and choreography will be overseen by Rebecca Edmondson.
