A monologue memorized from a contemporary play and/or musical that is NO MORE than 1 minute in length.
Jon: Male, Vocal range Top: A4 | Bottom: A2, Any Ethnicity, Age range 25 – 30. Jon (Jonathan Larson) is on the brink of celebrating his 30th birthday. A struggling New York composer searching for balance in his life along with his “big break” in the business. Charming in a way, a bit of a nerdy/awkward vibe, can become a little self-centered at times. Strong narrator that can control the stage, interact with audience, comedic timing. Michael’s roommate and Susan’s boyfriend. Ability to play piano is not required but would be a plus.

Michael: Male, Vocal range Top: Gb4 | Bottom: Bb2, Any Ethnicity, Age range 25 – 35. Michael is Jon’s roommate and best friend since they were kids. He was a former actor, now turned market research executive. Moved on in his life when it comes to career and is moving forward in life. Michael is a truly caring and kind person…a genuine soul. Funny with good comic timing and knack for sarcasm but can also hold a secret close to the vest. Same performer plays several additional character roles. Has always been the caring, supportive and nurturing kind, but is slowly losing her connection with him due to his lack of commitment. Has a self-motivated, energetic, and lovely charisma about her. Same performer plays several additional character roles requiring some excellent comedic timing. Susan is a dancer.
