The Lancaster Players announced auditions for “In the Rest Room at Rosenblooms.”
“In the Rest Room at Rosenblooms” is an emotionally charged one-act play written by Wendy Wasserstein.
The casting call is for four women, ages 50-70.
Set in a department store restroom, the play explores the lives of two women, Hennie and Sadie, as they engage in a candid and poignant conversation. Amidst the mundane backdrop of a restroom, their dialogue delves into themes of friendship, dreams, regrets, and the passage of time. Through their exchange, the play captures the complexities of female relationships and the shared experiences that bind women together, even in the unlikeliest of places. Wasserstein’s skillful writing infuses the play with humor, vulnerability, and a deep sense of connection, making “In the Rest Room at Rosenblooms” a compelling exploration of the intimate moments that shape our lives.
Performance dates are scheduled for weekends in early November.
Play is directed by Linda Stough and written by Ludmilla Bollow. Production is described as a “light comedy with poignant moments.” The setting is the ladies lounge of an outdated downtown department store where three friends meet each day and share their hopes, dreams and fears.
Those who are interested and cannot be present at auditions may call The Playhouse, 435-3776, and leave a message. Stough urges novice actors and newcomers to audition.
About the playhouse:
Originally a fire station, this intimate little theater has been undergoing renovations and upgrades since late 2007 under the direction of and including much labor from Ben Estes. During the past year, a new sound system was installed and the air conditioners and roof were replaced. These continuing investments in The Playhouse are possible because of the generous donations of money, time and materials from many friends of community theater.
Auditions will be held from 7-8 p.m. August 28 and 29, at The Playhouse, 361 Chesapeake Drive, White Stone.
