Middletown Arts Center produces various stage productions and the facility is a state-of-the-art, 240-seat theater. The MAC Players are Middletown Arts Center’s community theater group whose past performance’s include The Addams Family: A New Musical Comedy, The Marvelous Wonderettes and SHREK The Musical. “Legally Blonde” is a lively and comedic musical adaptation of the popular novel and film of the same name. It follows the journey of Elle Woods, a fashionable and determined sorority girl who decides to enroll in Harvard Law School to win back her ex-boyfriend. Along the way, Elle discovers her own strengths and resilience as she navigates through law school, challenging stereotypes and proving that being true to oneself is the key to success.

This fabulously fun, award-winning musical follows the transformation of Elle Woods as she tackles stereotypes and scandal in pursuit of her dreams. Music and lyrics by Laurence O’Keefe, Nell Benjamin, book by Heather Hach and based on the novel by Amanda Brown and the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer motion picture, Legally Blonde.

ROLES
Elle Woods – (18-25) Mezzo-Soprano Belt (F5- F#3) The quintessential Valley Girl who follows her ex-boyfriend to Harvard Law School and realizes that she has more to offer than just a pretty face and a bubbly personality.
Emmett Forrest – (18-25) Tenor 20-25 (A4-A2) A smart and sensitive law student who takes Elle under his wing. He is charming, quirky, loveable, and friendly.
Paulette – (20s-40s) Mezzo-Soprano (A5-G3) A brash, caring, optimistic hair stylist who is friends with Elle and longs to find a man for herself.
Professor Callahan – (35-50) Tenor (F#4- A2) A pompous, sleazy and manipulative law professor at Harvard who is highly successful, but completely immoral.
Warner Huntington III – (20-25) Tenor (G#4- A2) A good-looking but shallow and pompous guy who breaks Elle’s heart and heads off to Harvard Law.

Audition Requirements: Participants must prepare 32 bars of a musical theater song in the style of the show. An accompanist will be provided or please bring tracks for your selection.
Rehearsal Schedule: Rehearsals will begin on or around May 20, 2024, and take place on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday evenings.
