Cutler Bay Community Theater  holding a casting on August 9th & 10th for their upcoming production: the stage adaptation of Agatha Christie’s Murder on the Orient Express to be presented in South Miami-Dade in November 2025.

AUDITIONS
Dates: August 9 & 10
Location: Palmetto Bay Academy, 16637 S Dixie Hwy, Miami, FL 33157
Time: Saturday 8/9, 12p – 4p; Sunday 8/10, 11a – 2p
Audition Type: Cold readings from the script (sides will be provided).
Preparation: No monologue required. Please bring a headshot and resume if available.
Note: Accents will be used in the performance and are encouraged during auditions if possible.

ABOUT THE PLAY:
A timeless mystery brought to life on stage! Legendary detective Hercule Poirot must solve a murder aboard the luxurious Orient Express. Trapped with a killer among them, every passenger is a suspect. Based on the classic novel by Agatha Christie, this stage adaptation by Ken Ludwig offers drama, wit, and thrilling
twists.

CHARACTERS:
(Note: Ages and genders are flexible and open to interpretation. Accents are noted where applicable.)

  • Hercule Poirot – (Male, 40s–60s, Belgian accent)
    The world-famous detective. Intelligent, meticulous, charming, and deeply moral.
  • Monsieur Bouc – (Male, 30s–50s, Belgian or French accent)
    Director of the train line and Poirot’s friend. Energetic, proud, and slightly pompous.
  • Mary Debenham – (Female, 20s–30s, British accent)
    A governess. Composed, intelligent, with a mysterious edge and a strong sense of control.
  • Colonel Arbuthnot – (Male, 30s–50s, Scottish accent)
    A military man. Handsome, passionate, honorable. The romantic interest of Mary.
  • Princess Dragomiroff – (Female, 50s–70s, Russian accent)
    A Russian aristocrat. Commanding, eccentric, dignified. A powerful presence.
  • Greta Ohlsson – (Female, 20s–40s, Swedish accent)
    A nervous, devout missionary. Meek and delicate, but more complex than she appears.
  • Hector MacQueen – (Male, 20s–40s, American accent)
    Secretary to the victim. Nervous, chatty, and always trying to prove himself.
  • Ratchett / Cassetti – (Male, 40s–60s, American accent)
    A wealthy American businessman. Abrasive and sinister. (Dual identity—Ratchett is the victim, Cassetti is his criminal alias.)
  • Countess Andrenyi – (Female, 20s–40s, Hungarian accent)
    Elegant and self-possessed. Poised and intelligent with a deep emotional current.
  • Count Andrenyi – (Male, 20s–40s, Hungarian accent)
    Protective of his wife. Strong, mysterious, and well-mannered.
  • Michel (The Conductor) – (Male, 30s–60s, French accent)
    Polite, professional, and observant. Also serves as Head Waiter.
  • Head Waiter – (Cameo role; could be double cast with Michel)
    French, formal, and discreet.
