Venice Theatre Announces July Auditions for Four Musicals, Including “Nunsense” and “The Rocky Horror Show”

Venice Theatre is calling on volunteer performers to audition for four exciting musicals this July. Auditions for two fall productions — Nunsense, A Musical Comedy and Richard O’Brien’s The Rocky Horror Show — will take place on Saturday, July 12 from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. and Sunday, July 13 from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m.

Auditions will be held at the Raymond Center, located at 140 Tampa Ave. W., Venice, FL 34285, at the north end of the rear parking lot.

Two additional family-friendly productions — The Sound of Music and A Christmas Carol — will hold auditions later in July, with dates to be announced soon.

About the Shows:

Nunsense, A Musical Comedy is a crowd-pleasing, high-energy show featuring five nuns who stage a musical revue to raise funds after a convent culinary mishap. With zany humor, catchy songs, and heartfelt moments, this beloved musical offers plenty of opportunities for comedic timing and big personalities.

The Rocky Horror Show is a cult-classic rock musical celebrating the strange and outrageous. With iconic characters like Dr. Frank-N-Furter and Brad and Janet, this bold and immersive production invites performers to embrace their eccentric sides with camp, music, and high-voltage dance.

Audition Requirements:

Monologues: Required for all auditions. May be memorized or read. Each audition slot allows up to two minutes total. Performers may present one or two contrasting monologues (dramatic and comedic) within that time limit.

Singing: For musical auditions, prepare 16–24 bars or up to one minute of a song. Bring sheet music in your key for the accompanist.

Dance: Be prepared for a movement/dance audition. Wear appropriate clothing or come prepared to change quickly.

Interested performers should secure an audition slot during one of the listed timeframes. For full details and additional updates, visit Venice Theatre’s website or contact the box office.
