Back to the Future auditions will be held in New York

Royal Caribbean is coming to New York City to hold auditions for both principal and ensemble roles.

New York City area performers have a chance to auditions for Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines shows.

Open auditions will be held September 1–5, 2025.

The production is seeking both principals and ensemble performers. Principals should be strong singer-actors with pop/rock vocal ability, comedic timing, and good movement skills. Ensemble members must be versatile singers and dancers with strong harmony work, advanced partnering, and the ability to perform in musical theatre, 80s, and 50s rock styles.

Those cast will perform in Back to the Future (3–4 shows weekly) and also in a Royal Caribbean original signature production onboard the *Star of the Seas* (3–4 shows weekly).

Audition requirements: principals should prepare two contrasting pop/rock songs from the 50s–80s; ensemble performers should be ready to dance first, then sing a 16-bar cut of a pop/rock song. Headshot, resume, and songbook required.

Rehearsals run January 13–March 14, 2026, with contracts beginning March 15, 2026.

Open call is at Pearl Studios, NYC:

  • September 1 – Principals, 10am (sign-in 9am)
    September 1 – Ensemble, 10am (sign-in 9am)

Invited appointments:

  • September 2 – Principals
  • September 3 – Ensemble

Callbacks: September 4–5. Attendance is required for consideration.

The production welcomes performers of all identities, body types, and abilities.

Seeking:

Principals: Seeking outstanding singer/actors with the ability to sing pop/rock genres and possess an excellent sense of comedy. Good movement skills a plus.

Ensemble: Seeking versatile singers and excellent dancers capable of singing in both musical theatre and pop styles. Solid experience with harmony work needed. Advanced partnering in a range of dance styles from contemporary musical theatre as well as varying 80’s genre and 50’s rock and roll.

All performers hired for BACK TO THE FUTURE (3-4 performances weekly) will also perform in an original Royal Caribbean Signature Production onboard the STAR of the Seas (3-4 performances weekly).

OPEN CALL INFORMATION:

Principals: Please prepare two contrasting songs in the pop/rock genre from the 50’s – 60’s or the 70’s – 80’s.

Ensemble: Please come prepared to dance first. Also prepare a 16-bar cut of a pop/rock song from the 50’s – 60’s or the 70’s – 80’s.

Bring headshot, resume, and personal songbook in case you are asked to sing something different.

Featured Actor/Singer
Outstanding singer/actors with the ability to sing pop/rock genres and possess an excellent sense of comedy. Will also perform in our original Signature Production.

Lead Vocalist
Outstanding singer/actors with the ability to sing pop/rock genres and possess an excellent sense of comedy. Good movement skills a plus. Will also perform in our original Signature Production.

Dancer Vocalist
Versatile singers and excellent dancers capable of singing in both musical theatre and pop styles. Solid experience with harmony work needed. Advanced partnering in a range of dance styles from contemporary musical theatre as well as varying 80’s genre and 50’s rock and roll. Will also perform in our original Signature Production.

CASTING FOLLOWING ROLES:

Roles being cast include: Marty McFly, Doc Brown, Biff Tannen, George McFly, Lorraine Baines-McFly, Goldie Wilson/Marvin Berry, Principal Strickland, Jennifer Parker, Dave McFly, Linda McFly, plus male and female ensemble.
