Shrek: The Musical Returns to Warren County This November — Open Auditions Set for August

Warren Arts is bringing the beloved Shrek: The Musical back to the stage this fall, and community members are invited to audition for their chance to join the cast of this whimsical fairytale production.

Open auditions will take place at the Warren County Administrative Building on Wednesday, August 14 from 5:00–8:30 p.m. and Saturday, August 17 from 1:00–4:30 p.m. in the early voting room. Video submissions will also be accepted from August 7 through August 12, offering flexibility for anyone unable to attend in person. Callbacks will be held by appointment on August 18.

Auditions:

Wednesday, August 14 from 5:00–8:30 p.m.
Saturday, August 17
from 1:00–4:30 p.m.

201 Locust St. McMinnville, TN

The production, directed by Warren Arts founding board member Sherri Denning, will run this November at the Warren Arts stage. Denning, a long-time supporter of the arts in Warren County, described Shrek as a story that celebrates individuality and self-worth.

“Shrek is really the fairytale for any average person,” Denning explained. “It does not matter if you fit the mold of what is beautiful or what is handsome. It truly is a story about how what’s inside is what matters to people.”

Roles are available for teens and adults, with two parts open to younger performers aged 9–12. The role of Shrek has already been cast, but all other roles remain open, and Warren Arts encourages performers of all experience levels to audition — including those stepping on stage for the very first time.
