Casting Call Announced for Feature Film Via Negativa – Portland
Producers of the upcoming feature film Via Negativa have issued an open casting call for background talent in Oregon. The film is seeking a wide range of extras, no prior experience required.
Weeble Mountain Casting is seeking the following:
- General Background Extras: Individuals of all ages — adults, children, teens, and seniors — are encouraged to apply.
- Romani People: Individuals of Romani heritage of any age, including Romani actors with speaking role experience.
- Korean Teens: Korean teens between the ages of 14 and 19.
About the Film:
Via Negativa is a feature film directed and co-written by Hannah Peterson, adapted from the novel by Daniel Hornsby. The story follows Dan, a young priest grappling with a profound crisis of faith after the death of his estranged friend Paul. His journey to confront the priest who once abused Paul leads him across the American landscape, accompanied by a wounded coyote and encounters with eccentric travelers. The film promises a haunting, surreal exploration of guilt, faith, and redemption.
“Via negativa,” a Latin term meaning “negative way,” is a method of understanding something, particularly God, by focusing on what it is not rather than what it is. In theology, it’s a way to describe the divine by listing attributes that God does not possess, acknowledging God’s transcendence and unknowability.

Location: Various locations in and around Portland, Oregon
Union Status: SAG-AFTRA production. Non-union performers are also welcome to submit.
