Auditions have been announced for the West Coast Premiere of Golden Age, a new play by Tom Misuraca, directed by Aurora J. Culver.
The production, produced by Fon Productions, will be staged at Sawyer’s Playhouse in North Hollywood this November.
In-person auditions will take place on Wednesday, September 17, in Burbank, with callbacks scheduled for Thursday, September 18.
Golden Age tells the story of a group of retired superheroes living at Silver Linings Retirement Home. When their longtime nemesis, Mr. Malevolent, moves in, the remaining members of the Power Heroes, Power Man, Mighty Girl, and Lightning Lex—must rally their fading powers and memories to take him down one last time. The play blends action, comedy, and heartfelt nostalgia, offering a unique twist on classic superhero tales.
The creative team is casting a diverse range of roles, including the aging superheroes, their villainous foe, a wannabe hero, a clueless nurse, and a grumpy fellow resident. Many roles require staged fight choreography in the style of Adam West’s *Batman,* with varying degrees of physicality such as falls, lifts, and wheelchair use.
Rehearsals will be held in Valley Glen and the NoHo/Burbank area from September 20 through November 6, with performances scheduled for November 7–22, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m.
This production promises to deliver humor, action, and heart while celebrating and satirizing the superhero genre.
