Lights Up! Theatre Co. in Jackson to Hold Auditions and Workshop for Fall 2025 Production of Chicago: Teen Edition
Lights Up! Theatre Co. is holding an open audition for youth in the Jackson, Tennessee area this month. The theater is putting the spotlight on its fall production of Chicago: Teen Edition, inviting rising 6th through 12th grade students to audition for this iconic, jazz-fueled musical.
With auditions scheduled for late June and a preparatory workshop offered earlier in the month, young performers in West Tennessee have a prime opportunity to gain stage experience and sharpen their audition skills.
Auditions will be held on Saturday, June 28 and Sunday, June 29 at 2:00 PM, with callbacks on Sunday, June 29 at 6:00 PM. All sessions will take place at the Lights Up! Theatre Co. studio, located at 1421 N. Highland Avenue, Jackson, TN.
Looking for more casting calls in Tennessee?
Students auditioning are asked to:
- Prepare 60 seconds of a song from Chicago
- Dress for movement (dance attire or comfortable clothes recommended)
- Be ready to participate in a taught dance combination
- Expect cold readings from the script
To help students prepare, choreography videos for the dance audition will be shared two weeks prior. These videos are optional but encouraged for those looking to rehearse in advance.

Chicago: Teen Edition Audition Workshop
In addition to auditions, Lights Up! Theatre Co. will host a special Audition Workshop on Saturday, June 14 from 1:00–3:00 PM at the same location. Open to rising 6th through 12th grade students—whether auditioning or not—this workshop is designed to equip young performers with the tools needed to succeed in musical theatre auditions.
Workshop Highlights:
- Vocal preparation tips
- Cold reading exercises
- Preview of the show’s choreography
- Audition etiquette and confidence-building techniques
The workshop fee is $10 per student, and pre-registration is encouraged. This session is perfect for students new to auditioning or those wanting to refine their performance skills in a low-pressure, educational environment.
