Wicked Open Call for Singers in Boston
Singers in the Boston area will have a chance to audition for Wicked when the hit Broadway musical holds an open call for performers on October 17, 2026.
Seeking:
- Singers age 18 and older of any ethnicity and any gender who also move well.
- Performers should have strong voices and wide vocal ranges and may be considered for both principal and ensemble roles for the Broadway and National Touring Company.
- Both Equity and non-Equity performers are welcome. You do not have to be a union member to attend, but you must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Wicked has been running on Broadway since 2003 and is based on Gregory Maguire’s novel Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West. The musical features music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and a book by Winnie Holzman. The story takes audiences back to Oz before Dorothy arrives, following Elphaba and Glinda and the unlikely friendship that develops between them. The score includes songs such as “Defying Gravity,” “Popular” and “For Good.”
The Broadway production continues at the Gershwin Theatre in New York, while Wicked also has an ongoing North American touring production. The official show site currently lists additional North American tour dates.

Boston open auditions for Singers:
The open call will be held Saturday, October 17 at the Calderwood Pavilion, 527 Tremont Street in Boston. Sign-in begins at 10:30 a.m., and singers must arrive by 1 p.m. to be considered. Auditionees should not arrive before 10:30 a.m. Potential callbacks are scheduled for October 18.
For the audition, singers should prepare 16 bars of a contemporary musical theater song to perform a cappella. Sopranos may instead choose 16 bars of a traditional legit musical theater selection that shows off their range. Bring sheet music as well in case the casting team asks you to sing with piano accompaniment. A photo and resume should be stapled together and brought to the audition.
