Community through Theater – The Pink Elephant – A New Play

Community through Theater is so excited to be sending out a casting call for the workshop reading of The Pink Elephant.
A new, one-act play by our very own Community Advisor, Mars Oliver-Martinez. Pink Elephant follows siblings Mariposa and Mateo as they navigate illness, loss, and responsibility while caring for a new member of their family.
We are currently seeking Non-Union, Latinx actors for the following roles:
- MARIPOSA – 13 (open to actors 14-17 who can believably play 13)
- MATEO – 19 (open to actors 18-24 who can believably play 19)
Note – although these characters are masculine and feminine presenting, we welcome anyone of any gender identity or expression to apply!)
Actors will be needed for following dates:
Table Read: April 27th, 6-8:30pm
Reading Day: May 1st, 4-8:30pm
Performance location will be announced in the following weeks as we are still figuring out logistics. Actors will be stipended $150 via Visa Gift Card for their participation.
This reading is part of the play’s development process and will be shared with a small audience. We’re especially excited to work with actors who are drawn to emotional and vulnerable material. No prior acting experience is required. We welcome submissions from first-time performers and those who are new to theatre, as well as more experienced actors. Curiosity, openness, and a willingness to explore the material are far more important to us than a résumé. Actors with lived or cultural connections to the world of the play are strongly encouraged to submit.
