Rock Hill Theatre presents “Deathtrap”

Auditions are happening next week for the third season production of Deathtrap by Ira Levin, and performers are invited to learn more about this classic, twist filled thriller before auditioning. The story centers on Sidney Bruhl, a once successful writer of Broadway thrillers who is struggling financially and creatively while living in his Connecticut home. His luck seems to change when a student from a nearby college seminar shares a script that Sidney immediately recognizes as a potential Broadway hit. With the encouragement of his wife, Sidney proposes a collaboration for shared credit, but nothing is quite what it seems. The play is packed with sharp humor, shocking surprises, and nonstop twists that keep audiences guessing until the final moment.
Auditions are open to performers ages 18 and up and will be held Monday, February 9 and Tuesday, February 10 from 6 to 8 pm, with callbacks on Wednesday, February 11 if needed. Performances will run April 17 through April 26, 2026 at WCCS in Rock Hill, South Carolina. The production is directed by Johnny Hohenstein. A very clever student; boyish and handsome at the same time; physically fit; knows he’s the smartest man in the room and can bide his time to display it; covers it with innocence, affection, and naïveté. - Myra Bruh | Supporting, Female, age 40-60
Sophisticated, upper-class, but embraces the country life; innocent, sweet, caring, emotional, nervous, even skittish, supportive of Sydney’s career and moods but grows some backbone when he crosses the line. - Helga ten Dorp | Supporting, Female, age 30-99
