THE LARAMIE PROJECT

On the heels of Black History Month and the beginning of
Women’s History Month, DVA Productions uses this show to
promote tolerance and oppose hatred toward any group.
Auditions: Will be held on Tuesday, January 3, 2012 from 6-9pm.
First read through will be held Thursday, January 5th, 6-9pm.
Please see rehearsal & performance schedule below. If you
are not available for these dates, please come and audition
with them when your availability increases. Bring a headshot
and resume if you have one.
Audition and First Read-through location:
Goodwill Industries, 4005 Campus Drive, Ft Worth, TX 76119
Rehearsals will begin Monday February 12. Rehearsals will be
Monday-Thursday 7-10. Saturday 10-2. Sunday (if needed) 2-6.
Show will take place March 2, 3, 9, and 10, 2012 at 8pm and
March 3, 4, 10, and 11, 2012 at 3pm.
Regular rehearsal & performance location: Pantagleize Theatre
1115 Rio Grande, Fort Worth, TX 76102 (corner of Henderson
& Rio Grande – behind tall church – theater faces Rio Grande).
Stipends: Are paid according to experience.

SYNOPSIS:
On October 6th of 1998 Matthew Shepard was beaten and left
to die tied to a fence in the outskirts of Laramie, Wyoming.
He died 6 days later. His torture & murder became a water-
shed historical moment in America that highlighted many of
the fault lines in our culture. A month after the murder,
the members of Tectonic Theater Project traveled to Laramie
& conducted interviews with the people of the town. From
these interviews they wrote the play The Laramie Project.
The piece has been seen by more than 30 million people around
the country.
Needed:
8 Actors-Varied ages, ethnicity, genders, & flexibility. Each
person should be prepared to play several characters.
