DOMA Theatre Company is currently auditioning for the hilarious roller skating musical comedy hit XANADU
DOMA is seeking to fill the following roles.
•Kira/Clio: Female. Olivia Newton John like. Vocal Range: Alto – Soprano. Lead Muse. Blond preferred or be willing to wear a blond wig or dye hair blond. Skating experience required. Must move well and be able to pull off a fake Australian Accent. Early – Mid 20s.
•Sonny: Male. 20s-30s A self-critical, mortal, chalk artist who falls in love with Kira (Cleo). Handsome. Very 80’s.
•Danny: Male. Distinguished looking Late 50s. Graying hair preferred or be willing to dye hair gray. Some Dance experience required or must move well.
•Callope: Female. Late 20s to early 40s. One of the Muses and side kick to Melpomene. Improvisation and character skills preferred. Role requires multiple character types.
•Thalia: Male. Age Range 18-25. One of the Muses. Dance Experience required. Rocker style singing voice. Character has Feminine like qualities.
•Euterpe: Female. Mid 20s – mid 30s. One of the Muses. Must be able to sing and dance.
•Erato: Female: Same as Euterpe. Mid 20s-Mid 40s. One of the Muses.
•2 Dancers: Must Be Female. Early 20s-Mid 30s. Basic Singing skills preferred.
•4 Roller Skaters: Two Males required. 2 other skaters, male preferred but not limited to. No Age limit.
***Please know that the roles of Melpomene & Terpsicore are closed.***
This is an AEA 99 Seat Plan production.
Performance Stipend: $11 per show.
Audition Schedule is as follows.
•: Sat 7/7/12 11 AM – 4 PM: Vocal Auditions for Principal and Supporting Characters. The Met Theatre 1089 North Oxford Ave. Los Angeles, CA 90029
•Sun 7/1/12 4:00 PM Open Dance Call for Dance Roles only. The Met Theatre 1089 North Oxford Ave. Los Angeles, CA 90029
•Callbacks for Principal and Supporting characters will be held on Sat 7/14/12 11 AM – 4 PM. The Met Theatre 1089 North Oxford Ave. Los Angeles, CA 90029
DANCERS: Should attend the Open Dance call at The Met Theatre on Sat 7/7/12 at 4 PM. Dancers do not need to submit a headshot and resume prior to the audition. Those interested in a Dance Only Role should come down to The Met at 4 PM on Saturday. Please bring a headshot and resume with you to the audition. A combination will be taught.
PRINCIPLES & SUPPORTING CHARACTERS: Should send a headshot and resume to auditions@domatheatre.com. You will be contacted with an audition date and time. If an audition timeslot is secured, please prepare 16-24 bars of a modern musical theatre piece or a 1980s ballad or pop song and bring a headshot and resume with you to the audition.
ROLLER SKATERS: ***There is no audition call for Roller Skaters. Any interested Roller Skaters should send a video clip of their work to auditions@domatheatre.com.**** The production team will be meeting with all Roller Skaters at the callbacks on Sat 7/14/12 in which a meeting time will be confirmed upon submission of the video clip.
Street Parking is available. For those who are auditioning after 12 PM, secured parking is also available at Earl Scheib Paint and Auto Body. 5416 Santa Monica Blvd. Los Angeles, CA 90029. Please note that anyone auditioning prior to 12 PM will need to utilize street parking.
PRODUCTION SCHEDULE:
XANADU Rehearsals begin Monday 7/30/12: Generally speaking rehearsals run Monday – Thursday 7 PM – 11 PM and Sat from 11 AM – 4 PM.
Performance Run: Fri 9/7/12 – Sun 10/7/12. Fri/Sat 8 PM, Sun 3 PM
