Cannibal! The Musical? is a fun-filled, action packed, delightfully campy night of musical comedy. Created by Trey Parker, Matt Stone and a team of Toronto’s best musical theatre writers. Cannibal! The Musical is based on the true story of Alferd Packer — the only person convicted of cannibalism in America. The show ?follows Alferd and his companions, on the hunt for Colorado gold, when they lose their way in the wilderness and are forced to consider unthinkable acts: Singing!…Dancing!…and possibly eating somebody.
Alferd Packer 😕 (male, 25-37, 5’7 to 6’3) Alferd is a dreamer who accidentally finds himself guiding a band of miners through the Rockies. He’s the charismatic romantic lead of the show; warm, friendly and at times heroic. We are looking for a handsome and fit comedic actor, with a strong bari-tenor voice. Some dance skill would be preferable, but not essential. Comedic performers with musical theatre chops are preferred.
Shannon Wilson Bell?: (male, 26-40, 5’9-6’3) Bell is a miner/servant of God who is training to be a priest. He is the voice of the group and the path he always chooses is the path of the Lord. Unfortunately for Bell, the Lord works in mysterious ways and he finds himself having the worst of luck. We are looking for a versatile comic performer with a strong bass/baritone voice and moderate dance skills. A comedian with musical theatre skills is preferred.
Frank Miller/Frenchy Cabazon?: (male, 25-37, 5’5-6’2) Miller is the often angry, ill tempered member of the miners. He’s not interested in making friends or falling in love. He just wants to make the big score. Frenchy Cabazon is the intimidating leader of the Trappers. He’s tough, mean and an all around bully with an outrageously horrible French accent. We are looking for a strong comedic performer with a bari-tenor voice and moderate dance skills. A comedian with musical theatre skills is preferred.
Israel Swan/ Preston Nutter/ Indian Chief?: (male, 26-35, 5’4-5’11) Swan is the charming optimist of the group. He’s always there for a kind encouraging word and spins every negative into a positive. Preston Nutter is the muscle and bad boy of the Trapper gang, who loves nothing more than snapping the neck of a poor helpless critter. The Indian Chief is just that, an Indian Chief. Except that he’s Japanese. We are looking for a versatile comedic performer of Asian descent with a strong bari-tenor voice and moderate dance skills. A comedian with musical theatre skills is preferred.
George Noon/ O.D. Loutzenheiser/ The Cyclops?:? (male, 19-30, 5’5-6’0) Noon is the young buck of the group; a long suffering virgin. He’s naive, amorous and determined to “get tender with a lady”. Loutzenheiser is a member of the rough and grizzly Trappers, but also happens to be a flamboyant musical theatre triple threat. The Cyclops is a one-eyed former confederate soldier, angrily roaming the Rockies with his pet sheep. We are looking for a versatile comic performer with a strong tenor voice and moderate dance skills. A comedian with musical theatre skills is preferred.
James Humphrey/ Mills:? (male, 23-38, 5’7-6’1) Humphrey is the buffoon of the group. He’s a chronic liar. His ridiculous claims irritate and confuse his fellow miners, though quite often, he’s the voice of reason. Mills is the prosecuting attorney, who’s out to convict Alferd. He’s a bit of a dandy, but slippery and cut throat. Has a thing for Polly Pry. We are looking for a versatile comic performer with a strong baritone voice and moderate dance skills. A comedian with musical theatre skills is preferred.
Polly Pry:? (female, 23-32, 5’4-5’10). Polly is a sly journalist who is looking to get the scoop on America’s first convicted cannibal. Soon, she begins to shed her hard exterior and falls for Alferd. Polly is passionate, cunning, and eventually, warm and loving. In Polly we need an attractive and fit female who is a very strong vocalist (mezzo belter) with a strong comedic background.
Male Swing x 2:? (male, 24-30, 5’6 – 6’0) The male swing should be a versatile comedic performer, who is a strong singer and a moderately skilled dancer. Must have musical theatre chops are preferred and be able to cover multiple tracks.
Yuki?/?:? (female, 24-30, 5’3 – 5’10) Should be a versatile comedic performer, who is a strong singer, a moderately skilled dancer and be of Asian descent. Comedic performers with musical theatre chops are preferred.

- Audition Dates: Jan 4 & 5, 9
- Callbacks Jan 10th
- Talent will be asked to prepare 1 comedic/character song as well as selected sides.
- Rehearsals in Toronto beginning Feb 6th
- This engagement is a 3 week US tour.
