Blemished Light is a story exploring the different perspectives of Muslims in America by examining the ideological and philosophical connections between the powerful and the powerless and those who strive to stand against injustices. Fareed Rahmani, a peaceful Muslim scholar is kidnapped by a violent and angry man, Mohammed Husain, who is imprisoned by his violent past. Rahmani and Husain must answer for their choices in this world. New York offers no sanctuary, their families cannot help, not even Allah can release them from this battle of wills. The only way out is through a true examination of the bare bones of their own existence. The film intelligently deals with issues of identity and strives to show how different people within a social structure are “Labeled” as one identity but are actually unique individuals with their own thoughts and approaches to most mediating personal, social, and political issues.
