“Need To Know”, a Short Film

Linda has a secret, one that she’s been hiding from her boyfriend, Jack, and her therapy clients: she has Dissociative Identity Disorder. While one of her alternate personalities urges her to let Jack in, another threatens to solve the problem another way. Who will win out? It all depends on how Jack takes the news.
Please submit head shots and resumes to kayfilmscasting@gmail.com by Sunday, March 25th. Filming will take place in Irvine, CA on Saturday, March 31st. All actors will be unpaid, but will be compensated with credit, a copy of the film, and snacks during filming.
Characters:
LINDA: 35-45, Female. Clinical Psychologist who has been working as a therapist specializing in trauma for years. She has Dissociative Identity Disorder, a fact she’s been hiding from her boyfriend since they met in college.
JACK: 35-45, Male. Clinical Psychologist. He works in the same office as Linda, and they’ve been together longer than they’ve been psychologists. He loves her, but that love is dependent on the image of her that he has created in his own mind.
AMANDA (voice-over): 25-35, Female. One of Linda’s alternate personalities. She’s very maternal, and wants Jack to know about the other personalities, believing that he’ll respond by being supportive. Send voice-over demo to kayfilmscasting@gmail.com.
KIP (voice-over): 18-25, Male. Another alternate personality. Very pessimistic, depressed, and suicidal. After a lifetime of watching others let them down, he believes that Jack can’t handle learning about the other alters either. In his eyes, the only solution is death.
