CHARACTER BREAKDOWN:

OFFICER looks squeaky clean. He wears his uniform with pride. He’s a man of integrity and high values. Would never do something immoral or crooked.

GLENN (AKA PSYCHO) wears all black-goth clothes. He has no use for authority and is always very aggressive and bellicose. Dry sense of humor. You probably wouldn’t want to bump into him in a dark alley at night.

THORNTON is an expensive suit-wearing successful lawyer. He is selfish, narcissistic, sleazy and egotistical. Always looking out for number one. He will help you… for a price.

JULIE is John Doe’s wife and is the only characters who plays two different versions of herself. In one version her interactions with the rest are always a little off. She never establishes clear eye contact. She acts very strangely, almost as if he had her own, separate dialog going on. In the other version she is a total b… She’s conniving, manipulating, treacherous and destructive.

AVERY JOE is, as his name implies, an average joe. He’s pretty much an under-confident, cowardly loser who has never achieved anything in his life. His dreams are nothing but feeble wishes. He’s completely unmotivated and seldom fights for himself.

DOCTOR PASHENT is a “Freudian-looking” doctor with a heavy German accent. He’s pedantic and condescending.

NURSE ABBY is a pretty and angelical young nurse. She’s very sweet and a bit naive. She genuinely cares for her patients and has developed a cruch for John Doe, even though he’s in a coma.

NURSE OLGA is a much older nurse. She’s bitter and has “seen it all”. Even though she’s very good at what she does, she’s become sarcastic and complacient.

MINOR CHARACTERS:

MARK John Doe’s literary agent. (This actor will also play the role of HOSPITAL SECURITY GUARD

JOHN DOE : Although this is the title character, the role mostly calls for someone to play a comatose patient (although eventually there’s quite a bit of acting and body/facial expressions)

Job type: Paid
