Project Notes: Cheekie’s producer is legendary Sound Mixer, Willie Burton, who has two Academy Awards for the movie “Bird” and “Dreamgirls”. Mr. Burton sits on the board for Short Film Selection for the Academy Awards and his experience in the movie industry spans over 30 years, working on many blockbuster movies including “The Shawshank Redemption”, “The Color Purple” and most recently “The Help”. Story Line: Set in the notorious, Desire Housing Projects in New Orleans and based on Clarence’s Nero’s electrifying novel “Cheekie: A Child Out of the Desire,” this comtemporary coming-of-age story revolves around a 11 year old boy Cheekie who’s determined not to allow the violent world of Desire to stop him from succeeding.
