Stop the Funeral, LLC is casting “Stop the Funeral,” an equity production inspired by the riveting book by Dr. Donald Hilliard, Jr. STF revolves around Dante Jackson, an All-American high school linebacker who has been personally affected by the growing pandemic of violence in his community. In the spirit of a social activist, he rises up to confront his generation’s seeming fascination w/ death. Will Dante succeed or become another statistic? Dr. Donald Hilliard, Jr., exec producer; Kenneth Hamilton, supervising producer; Fernandel Almonor, playwright; Othell J. Miller, director. Performances run November 16-17, 2012 at Union County Performing Arts Center in Rahway, NJ.

Granville Jackson: 40-45, African-American, impulsive, headstrong, desperate for material success, a dreamer

Sonya Jackson: 36-40, African-American, beautiful, earthy, straightforward, must be able to sing

Dante Jackson: 18-20, African-American, handsome, athletic, muscular, mature, purpose-driven

Lucious Harris: 40-55, African-American, charismatic, articulate, shrewd, cunning

Jamal: 18-20, African-American or Hispanic, hip-hop type, worldly-wise, undisciplined.

Keyonna: 18-20, African-American, beautiful, charismatic, witty.
