Outfitted with cape, mask and courage, six year-old Priyanath imagines himself to be a superhero taking down imaginary villains with his extraordinary powers. Fighting pretend bad guys is easy. But when he learns of a real danger near his home, Priyanath must decide if he’s actually got what it takes to be a real life super hero. And one ominous night will determine his fate. Will young Priyanath be a hero or fall victim to the danger around him?
The short film Priyanath is a story about courage and fearlessness and is inspired by true events. The character Priyanath is based on Priyanath Karar who was born in Serampore, India in 1855. After entering the monastic Swami Order, he became the great Swami Sri Yukteswar, guru of Paramahansa Yogananda, author of the spiritual classic Autobiography of a Yogi.
Priyanath – our hero, a six year-old boy of Indian descent who is smart, curious and imaginative. He has a love of adventure and a streak of mischievousness.
Kadambini – Priyanath’s doting mother, 30ish, Indian. She is lively, fun, a dedicated wife and mother and just as imaginative and creative as her young son.
Siva – Priyanath’s father, early 30s, Indian, a caring family man
