Think you have the acting and dance skills to join the cast of Disney’s Newsies? you can now find out because casting directors for the show are holding open auditions nationwide.
Newsies the musical is based on the 1992 film produced by Walt Disney Pictures and directed by choreographer Kenny Ortega. The Disney film starred Christian Bale, David Moscow, Bill Pullman, Robert Duvall and Ann-MargretIt and is based on the New York City Newsboys Strike of 1899.The musical is set in New York City during the 1890s. In the story the “Newsies” are the homeless kids who hustle newspapers to make ends meet. The “newsies” are all boys that live in boys homes.
The film has been produced as an award winning musical for Broadway and casting directors Telsey + Co are holding auditions for male dancers. Auditions will be held in New York and other cities and there is an email address for those that cannot attend. Those not living in the audition cities of Las Vegas, New York, Orlando, Los Angeles, Philly and others may still have a shot at the big time because video submissions are also being considered.
