Victoria Elizabeth Coren Mitchell, writer, professional poker player and game show host will be presenting the BBC show ‘Only Connect’. ‘Only Connect’ is described as “a game of patience and lateral thinking”. The game show originally premiered on BBC 4 in 2008 and ran on BBC 4 until 2014. IN 2014 it will move to BBC 2 in the fall of 2014. The show is about connecting things that at first may seem to have no connection at all. During the show, teams compete in a tournament of finding connections between unrelated clues. The 1/2 hour show gives the contestants clues and allows them to solve the puzzle within 40 seconds or less. The teams are given up to four clues and must try to figure out the connection between them within 40 seconds. The team is initially shown one clue, and may request the remaining three clues at any time within the 40 seconds (they are not automatically shown). The team may press their buzzer to guess after the first clue for 5 points, the second for 3, the third for 2, or the fourth for 1.
Only Connect is now accepting applications from people in the UK who would like to be contestants on the show. You must be at least 18 years of age to qualify and the deadline for applicants is February 28th 2014.

Victoria Coren Mitchell presents a new series of the popular BBC quiz show Only Connect where, as in life itself, knowledge will only take you so far: patience and lateral thinking are also vital. It’s all about making connections between things which may appear, at first glance, not to be connected at all.
We’re looking for teams of three players who share a common passion, ability or profession, to pool their combined wits to solve fiendish conundrums and vexing puzzles.
