Synthetic Cinema will begin production on a feature film based on the Wally Lamb novel “Wishin’ and Hopin‘”.

The film’s producers are looking to fill multiple roles for “Wishin’ and Hopin‘” as well as another feature film that they are working on. They will be holding auditions for supporting roles in the film as well as other smaller parts in Norwich, CT later this month.

Wally Lamb’s New York Times bestselling novel Wishin’ and Hopin’ as a feature film currently scheduled to shoot in Connecticut in the summer of 2014.

John Doolan will write the screenplay and the movie will be directed by Colin Theys. Andrew Gernhard, Shane O’Brien and Zach O’Brien will produce the film and writer Wally Lamb is on board as the film’s executive producer.

Wishin’ and Hopin‘” is a story set in a much simpler time of the 1960’s. The story takes you back into the life of 5th grader Felix and the quirky characters that fill his life.

About the story:
Come back to 1960 and straight into the hallways of St. Aloysius Gonzaga Parochial School. But grammar and arithmetic move to the back burner this holiday season with the sudden arrivals of substitute teacher Madame Frechette and feisty Russian student Zhenya Kabakova. While Felix learns the meaning of French kissing, cultural misunderstanding, and tableaux vivants, Wishin’ and Hopin’ barrels toward one outrageous Christmas.

A vivid slice of 1960s life, Wishin’ and Hopin’ is a wise and witty holiday tale that celebrates where we’ve been-and how far we’ve come.
