CASTING CALL
Independent Short Film – Lead and Supporting Roles (Milwaukee)
ACTORS NEEDED FOR INDEPENDENT SHORT FILM (PAID):
– Milwaukee short film currently in pre-production by the Production Club at UW-Milwaukee, a student-run filmmaking organization with a large member base; equipment used is professional grade. FILM FESTIVAL ORIENTED.
– Comedic murder mystery titled “ACT II”. When the egotistical star of a failing show is nearly killed after the end of the first act, he and a newbie reporter deal with a theater full of disgruntled co-workers to find out who is responsible.
BASE PAY: NEGOTIABLE up to $50/day (based on role). Meals on set included.
FILMING DATES: Four weekends (Saturdays and Sundays) in February and March.
LEAD ROLES
– Chase (24-28):
The narcissistic lead actor in a play being put on in a run-down theater. Nobody in the theater crew really likes him, and he is nearly killed on stage during one of the performances.
– Lizzie (24-28):
A young journalist who investigates the attempted murder of Chase. She is confident, stubborn, authoritative, and is about to have her chance to prove herself. Savvy businesswoman look.
SUPPORTING ROLES (MALE & FEMALE)
– Chuck (34-50): The quiet, stressed-out theater owner.
– Lighting Guys (25-35): Three creepy, pasty guys who hang out in the catwalk 24/7.
– Tom (25-35): The tall, lanky, stoner sound tech.
– Helena (34-44): The large, aggressive, intimidating stage manager.
– Anna (24-28): The feisty, free-spirited leading lady in the theater production.
AUDITIONS:
– All auditions will take place in UWM’s Mitchell Hall — B75 (basement level).
– Saturday & Sunday, Nov. 15th — 16th (Any callbacks will take place Friday, Nov. 21st)
– Time: 9:00am – 5:00pm both days
What to bring to your audition:
1. Monologue of your choosing. In addition, you will be asked to perform a scene from “ACT II,” which we can send when you request your audition time.
2. Head shots
3. Resume/Reel (If you have a reel/example online, feel free to email it to us ahead of time)
PLEASE contact us via Craigslist’s reply system if you’re interested in trying out. Once you’ve replied, we can schedule a 15 minute time slot on either day to audition. Scheduling is first come, first served. We look forward to meeting you!
