UK Film Auditions for multiple roles in “Finding Home”

Location: London, United Kingdom

Type: Film

Perspective Pictures is an online-based film company, which has received 4 million views online and growing. We are currently producing our largest short film to date and will be showcased at all international film festivals. The director, Rupert Rixon, won the award for ‘Outstanding Young Filmmaker’ at the largest UK student film festival with his short film ‘Flip’.

‘Finding Home’ is based around Thomas Hume, a middle-aged man who has returned from the battlefields of WW1. Conflicted by both his experiences and his actions throughout the war, the film explores the concept of morality and whether it’s a reality or a social construct held together by social expectations.

Thomas returns from war and finds it difficult to return to daily life, as well as dealing with the death of his best friend and brother in law, who he murdered in the trenches. The film is set around afternoon tea scenes with Thomas and his remaining family, as well as flashbacks from his experience within the trenches.

Thomas begins to fall in love with his niece who has blossomed physically in his absence. He struggles to make the decision on whether to advance with his feelings towards her or maintain his morality, which has been warped by his time during the war.

LINDA HUME, FEMALE, 24-38, FROM LONDON, WHITE/CAUCASIAN
Thomas’s wife, she is kind, loving and wants to comfort her husband and support him. She is oblivious to Thomas’s desire for Natalie and finds his rejections of affection difficult. Linda is the sister of Thomas’s best friend, George and throughout the film grieves his death and is unknown of his cause of death.

JEAN MCBAIN, FEMALE, 28-38
George’s wife and mother of Natalie. She’s grieving over the loss of George, is generally a cold person and expresses hatred towards the Germans for causing the war, unaware of how George died. She is terrified of raising Natalie alone as they don’t have a strong relationship. She is desperate for Thomas to be a father figure to Natalie, unaware of the attraction between them.

NATALIE MACBAIN, FEMALE, 18-24
Beautiful, young, kind, sweet girl. Natalie is grieving over the loss of her father and due to the poor relationship with her mother; she is desperate to find a father figure. She is naïve to the evils of the world and Thomas takes advantage of her vulnerability. Natalie can’t help but admire Thomas and sees him as a hero; a kiss will be required between them.

GEORGE MACBAIN, MALE, 22-35
George is the father of Natalie, husband of Jean and brother of Linda. He is murdered by Thomas in the trenches. He is king, caring, unaware of the negative traits in others. He seeks to make people happy and look after those around him. He is loved by all and constantly looks to do the right thing.

PARKER, MALE, 18-35, FROM LONDON
Fun and playful, often unaware of the offence he causes, a friend to Thomas and George in the trenches. We aren’t looking for someone who has to act drunk, but merry.
