Little Women by Peter Clapham (based on Louisa May Alcott’s novel of the same name)
Progressive Village Performance Network (PVPN) in partnership with the Westmont Park District

Description
We are currently looking to cast 5 males and 7 females for a community theatre production of Little Women. The structure of the play covers that of the first half of Louisa May Alcott’s novel, interweaving the lives of the March girls, Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy, and Laurie, the boy next door, as they grow up happily together.

Audition Information
Open Casting Call! Auditions will be held at the Westmont Community Center (75 E. Richmond Street, Westmont, IL 60559) on the following dates:

Sunday, August 17 – 2-5:00 pm
Monday, August 18 – 6-9:00 pm
Tuesday, August 19 – 6-9:00 pm

To audition for this production, please attend one of the above dates and come prepared with a 1.5-2 minute dramatic monologue. Please note that all experience levels are welcome and encouraged to audition. As such, a sampling of monologues will be available for use on the day of auditions in the event that this is one of your first auditions or you are unable to prepare a monologue.

If you would like to prepare a monologue, but are not sure where to begin, your local Public Library is a great resource. Books similar to American Theatre Book of Monologues for… can often be found at the Library or snippets of monologues can be located by doing a search within Google.

As a note, call backs will be held on Thursday, August 21 at the Director’s discretion.

Hannah – female 40-60
Aunt March – female 60-80

Laurie – male 18-25
John Brooke – male 25-35
Mr March – male 40s
Mr Laurence – male
Dr Bangs – male

Please note that there is some flexibility with the age ranges for the mature male and female roles.

Rehearsal and Performance Information
Performances are scheduled for the following dates:

Friday, November 7 – evening performance
Saturday, November 8 – evening performance
Sunday, November 9 – matinee performance
Friday, November 14 – evening performance
Saturday, November 15 – evening performance
Sunday, November 16 – matinee performance

Performance location is still being determined at the time of this posting.

Rehearsals will be held 3-4 times per week as determined by the availability of the cast after auditions have taken place. Not all actors will be necessarily be called to every rehearsal with the exception of the March girls, Tech Week (November 3 –November 6), and one pick-up rehearsal during the week of November 10.
