Open Casting Call in Atlanta for Queen Latifah Film “Bessie” – Kids & Adults

1000’s of extras wanted for HBO movie about blues legend, Bessie Smith in Atlanta.

WSA Casting in Atlanta Georgia is holding an Open casting call for the new Queen Latifah HBO film “Bessie”

WSA Casting is excited to tap into local talent for a new project that will be filmed in Atlanta, Ga. We invite individuals who are available and interested in doing extra work to attend an OPEN CASTING CALL for a new movie. We are seeking all Ethnicities & Ages. We are especially seeking those that play musical instruments.

Queen Latifah will be starring and producing a new HBO movie about blues great Bessie Smith. Academy Award winning actress, hip hop legend and Cover Girl model, Queen Latifah will take the lead role in the production. Dee Rees will be directing the biopic which seems to be called “Bessie”. There was also word that the project may be called “Blue Goose Hollow“.

Bessy Smith is considered to be the greatest blues singer of all time and went on to be one of the highest paid African American actresses of her time, the 1920?s. Bessie performed alongside the woman nicknamed “Mother of the Blues”, Ma Rainey.

Joining Queen Latifah will be Mo’Nique & Khandi Alexander. Mo’Nique is set to play Ma Rainey in the Biopic. Alexander will be playing Bessie’s sister. There is a popular story about Bessie and Ma Rainey which says that Ma Rainey kidnapped Bessie, forced her to join ger group, the Rabbit Foot Minstrels and taught the young Bessie to sing.
