Los Angeles-based production company and director are creating a captivating, darkly comedic music video about a failed guru and the follower who regrets abandoning him. (Past work can be found at https://vimeo.com/crftsvcs)
To accompany the rich imagery, layered story and sound of a Nashville-based musician, this video tells the story of a floundering cult leader whose followers abandon him and he’s forced to try to reinvent himself.
The Guru (male, age 30-65)
This story follows a guru from a moment where he’s on a mountain top, realizing his prediction of the end of the world is wrong to his spiraling downward as all his followers abandon him, and yet he tries to stay optimistic and win them back.
The actor for this role should look and act the part of a guru or cult leader in some way. That is to say, he should be good at projecting sincerity, passion, transcendent joy etc. He should be comfortable dancing around during moments of ecstasy with his followers and alone. Long hair and beard help, we are also open to unexpected interpretations of this.
Bramley (female, age 18-45)
Bramley has been taken into a commune and fallen for the philosophy of a flighty guru. However, when the story begins, she and the rest of the followers have decided to abandon him. Through the story, she tries to rebuild her life, while also having flashbacks of the fun times on the commune and worrying about the guru.
The actor playing Bramley should be able to pull off earnest moments, as well as have fun moments in the vein of The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and be comfortable free-form dancing in a hippy style.
