Sugar Loaf Performing Arts Center will be hosting open auditions for “Godspell”

Auditions for teens and adults ages 15 and up. Auditions to be held in the NYC area on January 18th at NOLA Studios in NY. There will be two sets of auditions. Mornings will be by appointment only and afternoon is an open casting call with no appointment needed. To reserve your morning audition slot, please see the information below. Another set of open auditions will be held at the Sugar Loaf Performing arts Center in Sugar Loaf NY. Both union and non-union performers are welcome to audition. The show has not been pre-cast and ALL roles are currently open. The production is also allowing video audition submissions from those that cannot attend the open call.

Godspell”  is an ensemble show which requires some dance. Performers auditioning must be able to move well and sing. Show will be performed by our Professional Company and will be Directed by Tony award nominee, Joyce A. Presutti.

Godspell,  by Stephen Schwartz opened off Broadway in 1971. Since then the show has seen many revivals, tours and a Broadway production in 2011. The musical is based on a series of parables, based on the Gospel of Matthew and Gospel of Luke.

Interested in seeing local AEA members as well as local talent. We currently work with an AEA Guest Artist Contract. Non-Union Talent and Local talent receive a stipend. Limited Housing available.

Especially interested in performers Union and Non Union from the Hudson Valley/Orange, Dutchess, Westchester, Putnam, Rockland, Sullivan, Bergen and Pike Counties.

ALL ROLES ARE OPEN
All Ages over 15/All Types, shapes and sizes!
All actors must be terrific singers able to hold a harmony, have improvisation skills and be good movers and/or dancers.

(NOTE ON SIGN-UPS FOR NYC OPEN CALL: We will have a monitor at the door to NOLA at 7:30 AM to sign-up anyone wishing to audition at the Open Call. The list will be taken upstairs and posted with the monitor outside the audition room at 8:30 AM and will remain up until the Open Call begins at 1 PM. The monitor will allow one name at a time, if you wish to sign up multiple names you must go to the end of the line each time. Please do not start an “unofficial” list, it will not be used.)

The theater is located at 1351 Kings Highway, Sugar Loaf, NY 10918 which is about an hour north of New York City.

3 week rehearsal/1 week run

4 Week Total Commitment
Rehearsals take place Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday from 7 PM – 10:30 PM
Sundays from 2 PM – 8 PM
(Added Saturday rehearsal on March 19th from 10 AM – 10 PM
and Sunday March 20th’s rehearsal will also be 10 AM – 10 PM. Both days will have a 2 hour dinner break.)

First rehearsal Sunday February 28th from 2 PM – 8 PM
All rehearsals & performances are at Sugar Loaf Performing Arts Center

Godspell is an ensemble show featuring 10 performers, therefore, everyone is called for all rehearsals. You must also be available for all technical rehearsals and performances.

 

Please prepare any song from “GODSPELL”. If you wish to sing something that is not from the show, please be familiar with the style of the show when choosing your audition material. You may be asked to improvise a scenario at your initial audition.

If you cannot attend any of the auditions you may submit a video audition, please be sure the video submission is clear and 1 minute in length and shows you full length. Please sing a number from the show in addition to a short movement piece to show your movement abilities. What to Prepare:

Please prepare any song from “GODSPELL”. If you wish to sing something that is not from the show, please be familiar with the style of the show when choosing your audition material. You may be asked to improvise a scenario at your initial audition. You must bring sheet music in your key. An Accompanist will be provided; the score will also be available. You may not sing to a track, you must sing with live piano accompaniment.

Please bring an 8×10 headshot with a resume attached to the back and trimmed to 8×10. You do not need a professional headshot, any picture that shows you at your best is fine, color or black & white.
Minors must be accompanied by an adult
