RoseProse will present BOXES at Joe’s Movement Emporium May 15-16, 2015. Come be a part of the 4th production of this popular play! BOXES has enjoyed previous sold out shows at the Trinidad Theatre Workshop in Trinidad, Source Theatre in Washington D.C., and the Bowie Center for the Performing Arts.
RoseProse is a literary arts company specializing in inspirational theatre that attacks self-doubt and fear in domestic and international audiences.
This will be multicultural production, directed by playwright Ebony Custis. People of all ethnicities are welcome. For your audition, please prepare a two minute monologue and bring a head shot and resume. Cold readings from the script will be a part of the audition.
Auditions and performances will be held at Joe’s Movement Emporium (3309 Bunker Hill Rd, Mt Rainier, MD 20712)on Thursday and Friday March 12 and 13 from 6 – 9pm.
Rehearsals will be held 3-4 times per week on weekday evenings and weekends beginning in April as determined by the availability of the cast after auditions have taken place. Rehearsals will be held at Joe’s Movement Emporium and in College Park MD. Not all actors will be called to every rehearsal. All performers and staff will receive a stipend.

BOXES is a two-act play made up of 8 vignettes. The cast consists of 4 females and 4 males who will play multiple roles. Color blind casting – all ethnicities welcome.
CAST NEEDED:
[MOTHER] Female, late 40’s to late 50’s, powerful and elegant, pushing her children out of the nest.
[YOUNG WOMAN] Late 20’s, Female, depressed and frustrated with the prospects of being a single mother.
[COUNSELOR] Male or Female, any age. Stern health professional lacking in empathy. Works at an abortion clinic.
[OLD MAN] Male, late 50’s – late 80s. Alcoholic widower who has given up on life for himself. Provides sage advice to those who will listen. Singing ability a plus.
[POET] Male or Female. Any age. The inner voice of inspiration, communicates the central message of BOXES in the final powerful monologue.
[YOUNG MAN 1] Male, 20’s. Hopeful fiancé determined to be a good husband.
[YOUNG MAN 2] Male, 30’s. Clean cut professional scared of disappointing his wife and children.
[PRINCESS] Female, 20s to 30s. Attractive. Personifies the innocence and ignorance of youth.
[MARCUS] Male, 40 – 60 years old. Scruffy, happy bum who spends his days drinking and playing craps.
[MOTHER TO BE] Female, 30s, hardened by a life of struggle and bad decisions. A raw wound.
[CORPORATE WORKERS] Males and Females, all ages, frustrated white collar workers trying to climb the corporate ladder – with limited success.
