NEWSCASTER TEST READING:
A tragic shooting in Echo Park just minutes ago, leaving two dead and closing major streets while police search for the suspect. Police say the altercation began as a robbery or carjacking, the suspect then shot and killed the driver and his passenger, fleeing toward the 101 freeway on foot. Neither of the victim’s names have been released. Witnesses describe the suspect as a white male between five foot 10 and six feet tall, approximately 180 pounds and between the ages of 30 and 50. Again, the search is still active in Echo Park and surrounding areas and police advise that residents exercise extreme caution.
